A fun, interactive video game for children 3 to 8. Central and peripheral vision are tested in a short test period. Shutters in the vision port test monocular as well as binocular vision. The results are printed and communicated to a centralized HIPPA controlled data center.
The child watches wonderful bugs and insects fly around Herbert's head doing somersaults and twists. At a signal, the insects are replaced by symbols that are flashed on the screen. The child looks for matching symbols and pushes the joystick in the direction of the match. The symbols change size, color, and contrast to measure vision. The child is rewarded with fireworks and applause.
Kidsight has developed, and patented, a unique vision testing device for children utilizing the interactive graphics of an arcade game. This computer automated, interactive system uses proprietary algorithms and provides objective, standardized, and quantitative measures of ocular health and vision aimed at children ages 3-8.
The KidSight kiosk system provides a more accurate, reliable, and comprehensive, method to detect eye anomalies than current technology. Current technology measures the ocular and vision status of children either with cards presented by an adult, or by photographing the position of the eyes to detect deviation patterns. The former fails, usually because of the inability to gain the child’s interest, and the latter because of the failure to measure vision. The KidSight kiosk tests vision using the language of children, an engaging video game. It not only tests vision for high contrast targets, but also tests the functional field of vision under conditions of realistic contrast and illumination. There is no competitive system in the marketplace today that performs similar functions.
Kidsight intends to market and distribute kiosks to perform vision testing wherever there are children and the potential for supervised use of the kiosk, e.g. schools, pediatricians and pediatric dentist offices, and community supervised venues, such as malls where screening would be conducted by local Lions clubs. Children will be tested at no cost.
